In the middle of Tokyo next to Tokyo station (JR line) the Imperial Palace (Kokyo) is located. In the former Edo castle the Imperial Family is still living. Only on January 2nd and December 23^rd the inner complex of the area is opened for the public. Tourist tours have to be reserved in advance.
